The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity seeks to honour the legacy of the founder of the United Arab Emirates by celebrating people who embody through their work his lifelong commitment to human fraternity.

ABOUT Higher Committee
of Human Fraternity

The Higher Committee of Human Fraternity is an independent, international body comprising a diverse range of religious leaders, intellectuals and opinion formers. It pursues initiatives to bring people closer together.

The committee is dedicated to promoting openness and dialogue.

JUDGING

PROCESS

The judging process for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity takes place annually during the month of December. It is undertaken by a specially convened jury. The recipient or recipients are announced in early February.

Jury panel members are selected according to expertise.

The honorees of the 2021 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity are: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Moroccan-French activist, Latifa Ibn Ziaten.

2019: Grand Imam of Al-Azhar His Eminence Dr Ahmad al-Tayyeb and Head of the Catholic Church His Holiness Pope Francis (joint honorary award).

The two leaders were presented with the award following their historic signing in Abu Dhabi of the Document on Human Fraternity, which calls for all people to put aside difference in pursuit of progress through understanding, reconciliation and peace.

Nominations

Nominees for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity must be submitted during the annual nomination phase. For the 2022 award this will run from March 2021–October 2021.
